It’s Dark Way Too Early

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

It is only 4:30 in the afternoon, but the sun has set.  The evening tones appear, and the neighborhood lights hum quietly outside all the apartments.  Evening has arrived.

Little Kasai Festival Part II

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

The two night Minami Kasai festival continued on Sunday night.  There was dancing, singing, and lots and lots of eating.  The cotton candy stand had a line that was as along as a summer afternoon shadow.

The colors all seem to open up and reveal there true intensities at night.

Colors for the mind, body and soul.  Until the next year.

Going Back to Key West

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

It has been 3 months since I walked down Duval Street with Jerry.   A beautiful breezy day in the most south one can get in Florida with out hopping on a boat.  The boom of bass coming from a convertible.  The lazy breezy days on a patio with paint slowly peeling away.  The picket fence that is slowly dissolving to gray.  The bicycle that floats from up above.   I miss you Key West.

In Ichikawa, Chiba the other day, I stood on a bridge overlooking a small river moving though the town.  I watched the petals drift down the river, thinking to myself, see you in 2010.

We Once Were Flowers, Too

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

Wandering the backstreets of the Roppongi district in Tokyo yesterday, I came across a little alley with a withering flower.  It must have been gorgeous just a few hour, days ago.  Look closely, what do you see.  Roppongi is undergowing a makeover of an epic scale.

It is that time of year, as the days start to grow warmer, the days start to get a bit longer and all the cherry blossoms come out to play.  If you don’t live in Japan, you can’t imagine what a big event going out and appreciating the cherry blossoms.  People hang out on top of blue plastic sheets in parks up and down, all over Japan.  Drinking to excess and just flat out having a good time.  This is the first batch of images taken with the Ricoh GRII.  As usual there will be more 2 come.

the shot that almost ended my camera’s career

Monday, April 6th, 2009

This b-girl, PrettySick,  could really kick it at the Hot Wheels Jam down in Miami.  She literally almost kicked my camera out of my hands.  If it wasn’t for my brother Brimstone127, that would have been all she wrote for my SLR.  But the image is worth it.  Big ups to the Street Master Crew and PrettySick!

Battle of the Century: Rara vs Jeremiah

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Down in Miami I was able to bear witness to an amazing break dance battle,  These youth had skills.  They challenged each other in a heated exchanges, looks, poses.  Then again looking at the bloodlines of these two youth, the rhythm is running thought there heart and souls.

THE REAL HIP HOP is right HERE.

Ms. Kimie Oshima: Portraits of a Rakugo Artist

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

I had the pleasure to watch and photograph Ms. Kimie Oshima a rakugo artist, professor and lecturer the other day in Urayasu, Japan.  She wants to use comedy and the Japanese unique sense of humor to spread peace and laughter though out the world.
