Snorkeling at John Pennekamp State Park

Monday, April 4th, 2011

I had a chance to go down to Key Largo’s John Pennekamp State Park with my family to do a bit of snorkeling.  I hadn’t been snorkeling since my wife and I had been on the Hawaii’s Big Island.  The water was a bit cold, but nothing that couldn’t be overcome.

The focal length on my little disposable camera, was a bit longer than I thought; therefore, a few of the photographs came out rather blurry.

I look forward to being under the sea again.

Photography by Any Means Necessary

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

Been going though old negatives today.  So many rolls that have been shot over the years.  Light that has inscribed on to bits of celluloid memories.  Sheet after sheet of film of hand developed black and white.  I long to go into the darkroom again.  For now I have to be content to keep on clicking and expanding the medium that I love best.  Photography, by any means necessary.

Ocean, Sky, it’s all Blue to Me

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

As the Autumn Equinox has passed, the days will grow shorter, as the nights grow longer and colder, my dreams drift back to the warm enveloping waters of Hawaii.  As we swam in the emerald seas, watching the horizon bob in and out of vision, the blues entered into our souls.

The blue skies, melting into the minty blue seas, or is it the other way around, as the seas, evaporate inot the richly hued skies.

Open the Door and Come Inside

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

Open the door and come on in.

There is little to see, actually there are just some weeds, safety cones and a slab of concrete.

But pay it no mind, let the mind wonder on in, and see what is shall see.

Paris Two Years On. . .

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

It was about two years ago when I and my wife climbed aboard a jet and headed to Paris.  It had been a dream for so long to venture to the city.  The city were Eugene Atget once wandered the empty morning streets. I too wanted to roam the streets.  See with my eyes and my lens the city of culture.  I walked the streets, rode the subways, wandered though museums.

Meeting wonderful friends, Patrick, Sophie, and Frederic.  With their guidance we were able to see Paris from the vantage point as a native, not a tourist.

In actuality, besides not speaking French I was quite at home.  Wether it was sipping cafe on a street side table or grabbing some bread from the baker.  AHHHH.   I miss it so.  I will return to my beloved Paris.

Pleasure in the little things…like dropping of a roll of film

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

Life is simple. It is full of little pleasures. I am a uncomplicated person. I am amazed when bits of frozen water magically fall from the sky. So, today, as the rain comes down, and humidity rises. It was a pleasure to wander down the street here is Tokyo to my local developing corner store. It really lies on a corner too. And drop off a roll of 35mm film for processing. The owner of the shop is my main man. He never argues with me and tells me things that i cant do. he always is there listens and does a great job. I wish there where more people like him in the world.

Happiness does come from the most urbane sometimes. Today it was browsing though black and white images from a fresh shot roll of analog film. Sweet, isn’t it?
