Red Bloomers and Faux Stained Glass

Thursday, June 9th, 2011

After a long exhausting day, I was glad to get out into the fresh air on my way home.  I came across this little front side garden with these amazing red bloomers, that were perfectly countered by the faux stained glass.  All and all it was a good day in the neighborhood.  I feel lucky not to be going through the heat that the east coast of America is feeling now.

Everyday is a day to give thanks.

Sun Shone through Colored Glass

Saturday, October 2nd, 2010

The sun shone high in the sky.  The moisture has returned to where it came from.  The light brightened all the land as the streets glowed under it’s weight.  I was freed from my cold, and awoke with colors in the heart.

Two Things That Go Together

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

We have seem to have skipped an autumn season in Japan.  The weather so abruptly turned cold, winds and rainy that I caught a cold.  I haven’t been able to shoot for the last couple of days, because all I want to do is sleep to regain my strength.

Two random, yet connected images.

Yanaka Nice, Went there Twice!

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

Yes it is true.  I went to Yanka area yesterday, and I returned there today.  I guess I just couldn’t get enough of that baking heat bouncing off the asphalt and the aluminum siding.  One big change was that we went to the Zakuro Persian spot on Yanaka Ginza Street.  We had an amazing meal of chickpeas, spicy soup, lamb, breads, and kebabs.  Amazing place.

Time to Pause

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

I love that pause that starts Friday night.  The time to recoup my strength.  A chance to restore my mental and physical energies.  I time to reflect on the week, and plan the week to come.

I give thanks that I made it to another Friday night.  A lovely ritual of home cooked food, a glass of wine, the warm glow of candles, and the company of my wife.  It is a beautiful ritual.

All stay upfull and blessed!!

Heart Circle Fly Spiderella

Rain and rained it did today.  It poured so hard that I couldn’t see out my window.  I do like the rain, as long as I am not caught in the middle of it.  I saw a common species that inhabits the streets of Tokyo after a big storm.  I have named this species the “Spiderella.”  They can be found by the side of the road, sprawled out soaking up the sun after the rain stops.

Bullet Hole

Monday, December 28th, 2009

It is a rare sight to see a bullet hole in Japan.  Granted these were probably caused by a BB gun’s bullet, and not a black powder cartridge.  Still, the all too familiar concave exit hole told the Miamian in me what it was.  I wonder who and why it was done.

Last Windows of Sugamo

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Window let us see out into the world, they also let us see into the world.

However, the windows I like best are those that reflect the world.  The combine the

reality of seen, and unseen, and project it into the physical presence.

Aged, weathered, and truthful out of the little hood of Sugamo.

Ningyocho Reflections

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

Ningyocho is one of the Shitamachi parts of Tokyo.  Shitamachi literally means “down town,” but I like

to translate it as an “old part of town.  There are shitamchis all over tokyo.  Even though they are slowly being rebuilt and gentrified.

As I walked the streets I was fascinated with the window.  The way the glass, old and new would reflect bits of reality in its self, and then into my lens.  A metaphysical melding of my photographic world with the world that surrounds me.

Look into the glass, and tell me what you see.
