Lost Before the Storm

Monday, November 15th, 2010

Two lost and found objects I captured in my camera today before the sky turned black and the skies just opened up and poured down cold stinging rain.

Windy Afternoon Delight

Tuesday, November 9th, 2010

The brisk autumn wind was really blowing today.  I stood on some steps for a few minutes and just listened to the leaves rustle as they were blown across the pavement.  I do love this time of year, the slight pause before the real cold weather hits.  It is always a nostalgic times that makes me think back to my college years.  A lovely feeling, and some beautiful light.

The weather had been cold, rainy and windy when I found this little fella the following day.  Even the best at what they do, need to take cover.

The glint from this clip-on earring caught my eye as the sun was beginning to set this afternoon.

Lost Key to Someone’s Heart

Friday, October 15th, 2010

Someone lost the key to their heart.

If it is anyones out there, please contact me.

It would be a shame if that heart can never be opened again.

Have a beautiful day of rest.

Lost Protection

Thursday, October 7th, 2010

I found these two lost items of the last two days.

Both provide some protection from the unknown, or accidents.

One will protect your brain in a crash, and the other will hopefully protect you from spirits or evil doers.

Which one do you think is more important?

I will let you decide.

The End to an Endless Summer

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

I guess with the silencing of the cicadas and seeing this one on my way home today signals the end to a summer that seem to have none.

The Return of the Spiderellas

Thursday, September 16th, 2010

The rain returned with destruction on it’s wings.  The rain fell hard like stones.  The wind whipped up the leaves and debris, and the Spiderellas came out as the rain lightened up.  It seems like whenever the storms hit the streets are covered with the Spiderellas.  It is much in the same way as in my home town of Miami that earthworms litter the the sidewalks after a a downpour.  Catch the Spiderellas as you can, for they will be gone in the bright sunlight.

Déjà Vu, Lost, but Found

Friday, September 10th, 2010

I decided to do a docodemo walk yesterday.  Meaning I just picked a station that I had never been and just started walking.  My plan was to get lost.  I didn’t want to get totally lost but that is what happened.  I got off at Edogawabashi station, and started to make my way roughly back towards where I had journeyed from.  Somehow I ended up in Waseda, home of Waseda University.  Stopped off to rest my legs and get a bite to eat and choose to head back towards Kagurazaka, in order to stop over at a nice French cafe.  However, I soon got a Déjà vu feeling as i past by a cracked window that was covered with gel stickers.  I thought to myself, how this looks like the window I passed like 90 minutes ago, and I soon realized that it was.  it made me laugh out loud to come to the realization that I had walked in a huge circle.  This is why I don’t really have a good sense of direction in the city.  Looking forward to the next time that I get lost.

Lonely Crane of Nippori Station

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

After making it all the way to Nippori station from wandering from Minowa I found this little origami crane tucked into an iron girder at the station.  It reminded me of the stillness that I often seek out in my life.  As the rushing madness of the city swirls by here a quiet crane sat amongst the dust and peeling paint.

Weeds and a Red Key

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

Blazing sun baked this key till it turned red hot.  If the owner doesn’t find it quick it going to melt and become one with the bridge where I found it.  Some neighborhood weeds baking in the late afternoon sun.

The Other Side of Geometry

Friday, July 9th, 2010

There are two basic themes in my work these days.  One is seeing the shapes, and angles that make up the concrete metropolis that I inhabit.  The other, still based on shapes, but in an abstracted way.  That is what these images represent.  That same world close up.  That same world that plays with all the elements of image construction.

Sautéing Skies Under the Overpass

Monday, July 5th, 2010

As the sun was low in the sky this afternoon, the skies looked like onions Sautéing in the sky.  Quickly the skies turned brown, and no long after that they opened up and let loose droplets from the sky.

The alternating light and dark spots were what stopped me in my tracks to snap a picture.

When You Get Lemons, Don’t Make Lemonade, Take Pictures

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

After being stuck on the Tozai Line for about an hour I had to approach my destination on foot, in a sheets of mist.  The skies were so gray and full of moisture.  The density of the air was like that of my hometown of Miami.  So thick that one can take bites out of the air so satisfy your thirst.

Images just popped out at me left and right.  I took many more pictures this morning that I ever would have if I hadn’t had been stuck on the train.

So when you get those lemons go out and make the best you can.  For me that is to take pictures.  For you out there, figure it out and make it part of your daily habit.

In a Humid Haze

Monday, June 28th, 2010

The humidity pushed pretty close to 100% today.  The only saving grace was that the actual temperature was not that high, but it did feel like being smacked in the face when I walked out the door.

Everything took on a soft glow today.  I speculate that the water molecules in the air refract more light than on a dry day.  The hues were bright, as perspiration slid down my arm.

Those lost treasures that have been waiting though all weather. Hoping to be picked up and reunited with their owners again.

So stay cool.  Keep the water cool and the beer ice cold as we head into the wet season.
