Walls, Just some Kasai Walls

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011

The sun shone down on the old riverside section of Kasai.  A couple gorgeous walls stopped me on my way back home.  Just  some simple found blue, concrete, trees, and some graffiti tags.  Just some reminders of the simple gorgeous beauty of my little neighborhood of Kasai.

MOZE Slapped in Urayasu

Saturday, January 29th, 2011

Another one to add to my collection of MOZE tags.  I am not sure why I dig his tag so much.  Partially I think it is because MOZE is active in my neighborhood.  And the other is I just love the way the tag just flows.  So, here it is a MOZE sticker slap.

MOZE on a Friday

Friday, October 29th, 2010

Today was the calm before the storm.  The temp was cool but the sun managed to peek out from behind the clouds for at least a few minutes.  Staying close to home, I ventured over to Nishi Kasai to hit the thrift shops and just to see what was about.

Soon after my arrival I saw this MOZE tag just staring at me.  I then knew my mission for the day:  I was on a MOZE tag hunt.  I wandered the streets of Nishi Kasai peering everywhere along the way.  There goes another one.

Happy hunting, tags that is…

Cool Sunny Kasai

Sunday, October 17th, 2010

The sun shone so high on Saturday.  It was lovely to be out and about with a cool dry wind blowing though the neighborhood.  The unusually hot summer I suspect has disrupted the natural rhythm of blooming and fruiting of nature.

The wall was just dotted with these beautiful deep hued blue flowers.  Melded into a sky blue sky and the tarred asphalt.  All just a glorious day to be out in my own backyard.

The End to an Endless Summer

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

I guess with the silencing of the cicadas and seeing this one on my way home today signals the end to a summer that seem to have none.

Rainy Dip

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

After over a month without a spec of rain, the skis opened up and it has been pouring all day long.  We decided to go try an Hawaiian transported breakfast place.  Maybe it wasn’t the best day for walking around Harajuku with a small umbrella, but it did feel good to not be roasting in the sun.

Made a pilgrimage to the Monzennakacho area of Tokyo today.  I love it’s little backstreets filled with all sorts of drinking spots, houses butted up next to each other like books in a library, and a bit of old Tokyo charm.  Wandering the steamy asphalt covered streets, seeking out those images that just seem to be calling my name.

MOZE in the Park, Sunnyside Walk

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

I made up my mind to go on a little local stroll across the Maihama bridge to go to the community pool in order to beat the heat.  Sweat rolling down my temple I made my way across the bridge only to discover that the pool was closed for its twice a month cleaning.

So, after a quick lunch in the park lots of big black ants we journeyed over to the Nishi Kasai Community Outdoor pool to seek some refuge from the sun.  It was packed with families, kids, couples, and me.  It was a nice little escape just to float and let the water push me around.

On the little footbridge over the street my man MOZE had been there.  I can’t help myself.  I just got to collect photographs of MOZE’s tags.

Daikanyama in Twilight

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

Before having a lovely dinner we wandered around the streets of Daikanyama.  Wedged between Ebisu and Shibuya is a oasis of little shops and cafes.  A bit of an escape from the wilds of the Shibuya crowd.

Seemingly Random

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Seemingly random is a concept I have been exploring recently.  I guess one can say that nothing ever is truly random,  there is always some pattern, or some reason behind everything I see and do.  It takes an open heart to see those seemingly random connections.  I will try my hardest this summer to explore and discover more.

Ueno in August, Pipes, and Lotuses

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

After visiting the heart of Tokyo today, I am thankful for being close to Tokyo Bay.  It might not be much of a difference, but being near the water does keep things a bit cooler.  Surrounded by all that concrete and steel juts breeds hot air.

Wandering around some of the backstreets of Ueno is always an interesting for me and my lens.  I am never quite sure what I am going to find.  Walls that have been completely taken over by pipping and meters, A beautiful Lotus pond full of blooming flowers.  All harmonizing in the summer heat.

Abandoned Fisherman’s House in the Middle of the Suburbs

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

I came across this abandoned fisherman’s house today not far from Kasai station.  It is a bit unusual because I had seen it before, but it wan’t till today that I realized that it was a fisherman’s house.  Fishing used to be a way of life in Kasai, but for the most part it has been abandoned, along with this house.

There also was a gorgeous graffiti piece done on the pad locked door.  That is really what caught my lens.  Here was this house of wood, with nets hanging on the wall, and there was this gorgeous painting on the door.

Tokyo, and even my own neighborhood of Kasai never ceases to amaze me.  I have cycled though so many f these streets, and I still manage to see things that I have never seen before.

Get out and explore your own neighborhoods.  Look for the things that you have never seen before.  Find those little gems that speak to your heart.

Sun was high and no clouds to filter out those UV rays.  Summer is here and there is no doubt that it is going to be a hot one.  I am still looking forward to those long walks around town, camera in hand.

Fragmented Self and the Safety Cones

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

One usually sees oneself in bits and pieces.  Never quite able to put all the bits together and see the whole.  It is a struggle to understand the self as a whole.  I hope though the art and process of photography I will better be able to understand the self and the world that the self inhabits.

Blue White and Pre-Framed

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

If you haven’t noticed already I’m really into the color blue.  There has been an attraction to this color ever since I was a little child.  There is a relaxing element to that oceanic color.  It just soothes my scattered brain.  The color washes over my eye like those beautiful waves on the Big Island.  Ahhh blue…. in all its shades, tones and emotions.
