Lost in the Rain
Wednesday, June 9th, 2010The rain finally came down today. I guess it is a hint at the rainy season that is to come in the next week or so. The tiny drops flowed from the clouds, and I watched as the pools gathered on rooftops across the city.
A lost monkey in the rain struggling to turn his smirk into a smile. A bicycle key tucked behind some wire and paired with a silver gum wrapper. A beautiful blue umbrella gently hung on a fence. All lost in the rain, waiting for the skies to open and let the sunshine pour out. When the sun shines hopefully they will find their way to their rightful owners.
Don’t forget your umbrellas.
I’m MOZE Crazy in Kasai
Sunday, May 30th, 2010I went on a mission to find all the MOZE tags that I could in Kasai on Saturday. I usually don’t take pictures of only graffiti, but I think because this writer is active in my neighborhood, I decided to give him some props.
I dig the style os his simple MOZE four letter tag. Usually placed in a nice inconspicuous place. He tends to write with white spray paint, but not always.
I was on a mission, and I will continue to hunt for the tags. It is a visual collection for me. Enjoy the mad graffiti bomber of Kasai.
Fragmented into it’s Elements, or Not?
Saturday, May 29th, 2010All of life we seem to separate and fragment into their individual elements. We try so hard to distinguish between, life, work, and our spiritual pursuits.
The way I see the world though my lens, is that the elements are fragmented, but only because we choose not to see the way in which they are all interconnected with everything else in our life, and the world that surrounds us.
All the fragments merge together to create the collage that we all assemble as individuals called life. These bits and fragments form the synapses of our being. As we step though the world new ones are created while some decay into forgotten memories.
fragmented, divided, or collaged?
We must choose how we will view the world.
Saturday: Sun is High and The Camera Clicks
Sunday, May 23rd, 2010The sun shone high in the sky on Saturday. There was as much pollen floating around the air as there was sunshine. Though some vicious sneezing I managed to get a few pictures clicked off.
There can be drawn some lines between the seemingly random collection of images from Saturday. How to they all connect with each other. A garden that had several banana trees and the ripped, torn, blowing in te wind poster of a politrickster.
I will allow you to draw your own lines. Try to follow the dots and see what you can come up with.
Click, click, sneeze!
Urban Space Step Details
Saturday, May 22nd, 2010The stroll around the little red light district behind Tsudanuma station yielded some macro treasure. Some up close urbanized details of a city that is in flux. An every changing landscape filled with oxidizing metals, faded stickers and lights that strain the eyes. Into this urban space I step. Into this urban swirl I play, live and rest.
Rest, those weary eyes, so that your soul can open and retain it’s former glory.
Till the Juice Runs Out
Friday, May 14th, 2010I know I should have charged those batteries before I left this morning, but being mad tired it just slipped past my mind.
I usually treat my self to a nice stroll after finishing up for the week, and before the sabbath begins. I was walking all over Tsudanuma snapping up a storm. There were some fabulous little nooks and crannies that need to be explored further. I will make sure I have a fully charged battery the next time I hit that part of town.
Keep a spare, charge em up. I also thought of bringing my half frame, but I was NAH, i don’t need it. That will teach me, I hope.
Batteries are charging as I type.
Don’t Be Like the Monkey
Wednesday, May 5th, 2010Exercising the Lens on Sunday
Monday, May 3rd, 2010Sunday was a bit of a hectic day, but I got a little bit of a chance to go out and shoot on my way to and from some engagements. Japan is in the middle of the annual long holiday Golden Week, so the city is a on the empty side. All the city folk go out to the country and all the country folk come into Tokyo.
Looking closely at some items in and around the station of Kasai. Enjoy the day off, seek out your personal journey.
Looking into Shibuya
Sunday, May 2nd, 2010Looking into some of the window of Shibuya, I get the feeling that there is no rhyme or reason why some of these store fronts still exist. Shibuya is full of trends. The trendy teen’s mecca for shopping and clubbing, yet in the heart not far from the station, there is a shop that is selling clothes for the over 70 crowd. It looks as if no one has actually stepped into the shop for 15 years. So, wander, get lost and see what turns up when you turn the corner.
Can’t Patch Over Art, Art Will Always Win
Thursday, April 29th, 2010The day was lovely if not a bit on the windy side today. We hopped on the train to go into Harajuku today. We had planned to eat lunch at a new breakfast joint imported in from Oahu, but were dismayed to see the line literally go around the block. Being in a state of dizziness due to eating early this morning we trodded on looking for a spot to eat.
We ended up in a sandwich place. Which was okay, but the thing we discovered after sitting down was that the restaurant was in partnership with a cigarette company, so we were surrounded by adds trying to get the ladies to smoke. I thinketh we will never go back there again.
Strolling around the little busy backstreets of Harajuku was enjoyable, I found YOU there, just sitting in a window front. That was a nice touch, since it is always a pleasure to see you.
There also is this constant battle between the graffiti writers and the buffers. In the end the buffers can never win. Art will always prevail. The pattern the buffers left behind was so beautiful, with a faint hint of the original graff, it made my warm heart grow even warmer.
So get out there into the world. See what there is to be seen. Do not let them hold you back, flip the script and create art out of the seemingly artless.
A Knob, and a Rusty Tag
Thursday, April 22nd, 2010Rain Rain Go Away
Wednesday, February 24th, 2010Today is lovely. It actually hints at being spring. The air is warm and full of pollen making me sneeze. The windows are open letting in the slight breeze. So before I get on flight across the ocean blue back to my hometown of Miami, I thought it best to post the rain, so to avoid it later.
So, rain rain go away.
For I got to go away.
No Bicycle Parking Scribblings
Friday, February 19th, 2010As I was staring out the window of the Mr. Donuts in Urayasu the other day, my eye was drawn to three signs warning people not to park bicycles there. As I was a bit under the weather, I felt the sighs morph in front of my eyes, and I noticed that each sign had been scribbled on or altered in some way.
Three lovely blue squares just waiting to be noticed. Hey You!! Look at me!!
