It is Just the Tozai Line and a Square

Monday, December 27th, 2010

Caught in the long hallway between Otemachi station and Tokyo Station.  A lovely little corner of hidden gorgeous abstraction.  It is all about the east to the west!

Poor Jonah

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

“Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.” Jonah 1:17

Poor Jonah spent three nights inside the great fish.  What amount of faith it must have taken to survive that ordeal.  Keep up the good spirits.  Do the good works.  Strive to survive in this crazy world.

Zig Zag Crash on Through

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

This can be a motto of my life.  I always seem to be zigging and zagging on though it.  There is never that clearly defined path.  So, I tend to just make my own way.  Stumbling falling down, but every so often there is the right push, and that zigging and zagging creates a break though.  A way to see beyond the next avoidance.  Do not be afraid of those unexpected failures, those crashes that leave the ego bruised and battered.  Get up, look around, and discover how you can crash on though.

These were the thoughts that occupied my mind as i wandered back to my home this afternoon.  Trying to make everyday the day that I crash and break on though simultaneously.

I try not to fret.

I try to my troubles.

I let what is to be, be.

and I create those spectacular crashes ALL by myself.

Urban Space Step Details

Saturday, May 22nd, 2010

The stroll around the little red light district behind Tsudanuma station yielded some macro treasure.  Some up close urbanized details of a city that is in flux.  An every changing landscape filled with oxidizing metals, faded stickers and lights that strain the eyes.  Into this urban space I step.  Into this urban swirl I play, live and rest.

Rest, those weary eyes, so that your soul can open and retain it’s former glory.

Decaying Helvetica: TSUDANUMA

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

I came across this lovely bit of decaying Japanese Helvetica text at Tsudanuma station on Friday.  At first glance I thought it was some attempt at scratching some text onto a pole, but once I really looked I discovered that the apparent scratches were in fact decaying bits of text that spell out the the station name phonetically in the hiragana alphabet.

Fonts, the art of how we communicate with written language are beautiful study in their own simplicity.

Rain Can’t Dampen a Fiery Passion

Friday, May 7th, 2010

The rain came back again today.  It seems like it never really left.  It also feels like the rainy season will come early this year.  Rain, rain, and more rain.  It sent me seeking cover to avoid getting my camera wet.  I got some nice macro shots of fonts and text in a state of decay from the stations today.

It just goes to prove that no matter the location, the weather, or my current state of mind nothing can stop me from taking pictures.  So, to all you out there that has a fiery passion, do not deny it.  Nurture your passions and go out and change your life.
