Sun Blasted Minami Azabu to Hiroo

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

Another day on the streets.

The sun was beating down and the humidity was running high.

Hit the streets.  Got off at Roppongi station, then walked, I should say meandered over

to Hiro, then thought Minami Azabu to Gaienmai.  Lovely walk.  Lots of pics.  These are a collection

of some of the macro shots of kanji, or characters.

Ginza Textures

The day started off great.  I finished a long term project and sent it off, and to treat myself

i was going to head into Shibuya and walk around and take mad pics.  On the Tozai line into the

center of Tokyo, I went to turn on my Ricoh GRII to see what pics were on the camera.

Poof, nothing happened.  The power light went on, but the lens did not uncover itself.  HUH?

Turned it on and off, removed the battery, all the regular tricks.  Still zilch.  So I figure Ginza is on the

way, so I will get off and take it into the Ricoh Camera Service Center. Jumped off the train and tailed it

over to the center before they closed for lunch.  They said the camera would be ready by 3pm, so I luckily had packed my Contax T3 loaded with Black and White film.

Got back to the shop just before they closed, they had replaced the lens unit and the CCD for free.

Somehow the camera was still under warranty.  These pics are a test as I wandered around the backstreets of Ginza in the twilight hours.

Tokyo Tower

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

We had the chance to go to Tokyo Tower this past weekend with my niece.  It is the second time that

I have gone to the Tokyo Tower.  We choose to climb to the first observation deck to see what little prize we would get.  Once upon a time you would get a pencil for doing the climb.  The still charged you money even if you climbed.

My last walk though ichikawa for a little while.

Summer is here, schedule has changed.  It was wet and rainy

when I strolled back to the station.

Ballon Breasts and Bricks in Harajuku

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Got to wander around Harajuku this past weekend.  Took my niece who was visiting

there to see what all the young people were out and about.  A bit crazed trying to walk down

Takeshita Street, but got some good snaps on the way.

Aso is GONE with Shibuya Tags

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

Took a bunch of pics over the long weekend.  I havent had the time to properly

sort though them yet, so to satisfy my needs a few nice pieces of street art found

in the Shibuya neighborhood.  The poster of Prime Minister Aso is an instant favortite

of mine, and i love that it was pasted up under a child’s slide.

Rust, Neglect, Rain, all add to the decay in the streets.

Sun was beaming down and sizzling the concrete today as I

strolled back to the station.  The morning started off cool enough.  It didn’t last

long, it is July, you know?  The heat of the day sometimes bleaches the colors into

a nothingness, but I strive to find the colors in the City.

P.S. There is a cheeky self portrait in this batch.

ciao.

Kiba: Park and Concrete

Monday, July 13th, 2009

Strolled around Kiba Park on the edge of Tokyo on Saturday.

The skies were as gray as the concrete used to build this urban park.

A quiet stillness in a park full of activity on a Saturday afternoon.
