Sunny on the Outside, Empty on the Inside

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

The sun shone so high on this crisp autumn day; however, I was feeling a bit down.  Wandering the Ichikawa streets back to the station, this image, captured my exact mood.

As I rode the train, I saw the sun peak out from behind the cloud and I was thankful for the gentle reminder that even though I might be blue, the world still has sunshine to make us feel warm.

Yoshino, No Relation

A Yoshino family of fishermen, not far from my home.  No relation to the Yoshino I am married into, but a beautifully worn metal kanji.

Simply Squared on a Friday

Friday, November 26th, 2010

It is Friday.  The end of the week is here.  Time to pause and reflect in the simplicity of the beauty that surrounds us, wether we see it or not.

It is lost time, or it is time that has been lost.

I guess it all depends on one’s point of view.

Sitting Pretty in the Rain

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

This lone clear vinyl umbrella was sitting pretty in the cold rain this morning.  As the commuters all shuffled off to work muttering how cold it was under their breath this one umbrella just paused for a rest under a tree.  Never to be forgotten, and not smoking it sat and watched all the people hustle into the station.

Corner Shop, Door

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

This corner shop was shuttered up today, but I was drawn to it by the peeling Pocari Sweat sign.  For those of you who may not know Pocari Sweet is one of the top sports drink brands in Japan.  The first time I heard it it made go “What?”, but now it just sounds completely normal to me.

Lost Before the Storm

Two lost and found objects I captured in my camera today before the sky turned black and the skies just opened up and poured down cold stinging rain.

Winter Light has Come

Wednesday, November 10th, 2010

That winter light has begun to shine.  There is a special quality to the light here, especially as the haze and smog of summer fade away, and those clear days where I can see Mt Fuji are here.  I love this light, objects just seems to sparkle and come alive and the thermometer starts to dip.

Windy Afternoon Delight

Tuesday, November 9th, 2010

The brisk autumn wind was really blowing today.  I stood on some steps for a few minutes and just listened to the leaves rustle as they were blown across the pavement.  I do love this time of year, the slight pause before the real cold weather hits.  It is always a nostalgic times that makes me think back to my college years.  A lovely feeling, and some beautiful light.

Bursting Forth with the Good Seeds

Sunday, November 7th, 2010

And then the good seeds shall fall from the heavens.  They shall take root and grow strong.  The roots will seek out the nutrients that nourish them and will make them grow tall and strong.  Those beautiful red arils filled with all sweetly sour juice.

Grow long and prosper!
